coffee...

This warm up sketch informs me that my brush is dead.
yuck

Myself and others in my studio have created
a "group" Sketch blog, and you can see my morning sketches as
well as others artists most everyday at this address:
http://draw-bridge.blogspot.com/

As per the new schedule, Second Sunday of every month will see the post of 4 or 5 pages of “Adventures of the Floating Elephant”
This month’s installment is a massive 4 pages!

Check them out right here:

There are a couple of changes back in the first 5 pages of if any want to take a look, or read from the start:
http://activatecomix.com/23-1-1.comic

Also a few alterations in the last 3 pages of Chapter 2 if you want to remind yourself what happened so many months ago:

Saturday...coffee

Coffee and brush...

A.M. sketching with coffee

Tongue

The theme of our studio warm up today is Tongue.
Why? It's Wednesday of course.

Future hunter Nathan

Studio mates Nathan Schreiber and George O'Connor both do these morning warm ups with me,
and here's Nathan's late entry from yesterday. George was to do one too but complained of a head cold and a lack of will to sharpen his pencils.

Futuristic hunter Warm up

Over at Studio "Gowanus" or "Deep Six" or what not we've
been doing warm up sketches with a theme recently.
I did a futuristic hunter today for no reason other than
that's what the coffee did to my head.

Studio mates George O. and Nathan S. have joined me on this
task (some times).
See them here:

Mystery art yet again

Working on a project that may or may not be.
That is the question.
Here's a sample:

Secret things...

Working on some art I can't talk about just yet:

adventures

“Adventures of the Floating Elephant” returns.
A little different this time. I feel the story is better served if I post 4-5 pages once a month rather than ONE page a week. Thus, the opening to Chapter three is 6 pages:

Thanks!
And sorry for the long wait.

Sunday at the Brooklyn Navy Yards

My one page deadpool

Deadpool 1000 hits the stands today.
I did a very very short story in it...

Next Monday August 9th “Adventures of the Floating Elephant”
returns to activatecomix.com with Chapter Three!
So um…clear your Calendar for that day and stuff.

working

In the midst of moving, I'm trying
to get "Adventures of Floating Elephant" going again.
Soon...

... in the morning

Deadpool

That mystery art in my last post was in fact from a Deadpool story I did for Deadpool 1000. Axel talks about it here so I guess it's not a secret anymore:

Marvel Comics

Working on something for Marvel.
Secret for now...

Al Williamson

Just a brief note to acknowledge the passing of Al Williamson a few weeks back.
I met him only once and bought the compellation he had of his "Secret Agent"
newspaper strip he had worked on with Archie Goodwin.

He was a genuinely nice guy to talk to and at one point simply told me that I
was a “pretty good” artist and shouldn't give it up. Who can argue with Al Williamson!?
Below is a page from his “Corrigan” collection that he signed for me that day.

Thanks Al!

Mostly the African section.

Hospital room comics # 3

I have one more “hospital comic.”
While waiting for my Mom to recover from her surgery, (everything went fine) I drew this comic in her room just as you see it.

A peek

Moving forward with my Marvel work..

It appears I was a question (or clue?) on "Jeopardy" Feb 3d.
I'm trying to find the clip on line, but until then here is the archived questions for that show.
Scroll down to the "Graphic Novel" section to see the question involving me.

Clowning around

Working…
on the computer today.
Coloring some of my art for a project that I can’t talk about yet.
As you can see…it involves clowns.
Meanwhile I’m penciling some pages for Marvel. I’ll post some samples of that tomorrow.
Cheers!

warming up

Morning warm ups with whatever is around.
My Celtic art book was around…

Colorado

I’ve been traveling quite a bit last year and this year doing talks about the Fahrenheit 451 adaptation. Just got back from Colorado and had a great time! Thanks to all who drove me around and showed me the sites.

I was a silly tourist and had my picture taken by Doc Holiday’s grave:

A student asked me to draw him a cartoon character after my talk:

Colorado is…a beautiful place:

Zeus

I did a pin up for George O'Connor's Olympians blog. Check out his blog AND his new "Zeus, King of the Gods" Graphic novel in book stores now!
